Marla is an MBA/MHA in the Class of 2020 at the Johnson Graduate School of Management and Sloan Program in Health Administration. Marla holds a degree in in Psychology and Biological Sciences from the University at Buffalo where she graduated summa cum laude. Prior to Cornell, Marla worked in clinical research, where she coordinated NIH-funded clinical trials pertaining to pediatric asthma, prenatal substance use, and various emergency department quality improvement initiatives. During the fall 2018 semester, Marla also had the opportunity to work as an MBA consultant for Boston Scientific where she helped to assess the feasibility and market entry for a novel medical device. She has also served as a volunteer NYS certified domestic violence and sexual assault counselor.
Marla looks forward to working with the Healthcare Club Board to provide educational, professional development and social opportunities, promoting and facilitating dialogue on the healthcare industry, and helping club members reach their professional goals.
This summer, Marla will be interning at UnitedHealth Group working on enterprise strategy initiatives.
Brett Noel, VP of Education
Brett Noel is a first-year MBA student at the SC Johnson Graduate School of Management. Brett has a PhD in Molecular Signaling and Cancer Biology from Purdue University. Prior to Johnson, Brett co-founded KinaSense, a startup commercializing the molecular diagnostics and high-throughput drug screening technology he worked on in graduate school. The experience trying to grow a startup and collaborate with established pharmaceutical giants intensified his passion for bringing life-saving technology and therapy to the public. Brett will further his experience by completing his internship at Janssen Pharmaceutical in the Experienced Commercial Leadership Development Program this summer.
Lana Farrell, VP of Corporate & Alumni Affairs
Lana is a current first year MBA candidate at the Johnson Graduate School of Management. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Florida. Prior to attending Johnson, Lana worked as a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Step-Down Unit, as well as Same Day Surgery, Endoscopy and Post Anesthesia Care Units. She also has experience as a project manager both in the marketing field as well as a global maritime emergency response organization. Lana is passionate about helping others and the exciting direction healthcare is taking.
Daniel Johnson, VP of Marketing
Daniel is a current first-year MBA/MHA candidate at the Johnson Graduate School of Management and the Sloan Program in Health Administration. Dan holds a degree in Economics from Kenyon College. Prior to attending Cornell, Daniel was working in health tech at CoverMyMeds. There he took a deep dive into digital healthcare while navigating electronic prior authorizations between payers, providers, and pharmacies. Before that, he worked in public health at Health Leads and as a Research Assistant in the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. This summer, Daniel will be interning at Ernst & Young’s Operational Transactions Service in New York City
Gozde Akgumus, VP of Education
Gozde is currently a first year MBA candidate at the S.C. Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University. Prior to business school, Gozde worked as a genetic counselor at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. There she led the creation of the cancer diagnostics testing portfolio to facilitate diagnosis, inform treatment decisions, and evaluate patients’ eligibility for clinical trials. She also led quality improvement projects that improved efficiency of the genomic testing workflows and customer service. Gozde also previously worked at Yale School of Medicine in gene discovery in brain tumors and brain structural and functional disorders. Gozde is passionate about making genetic testing and life-changing therapies more accessible to patients. This summer, Gozde will be joining Deloitte’s Strategy & Operations practice as a Summer Associate.
As VP of Education, Gozde is excited to work with the Johnson Healthcare Club board to help teach students about the dynamic healthcare industry and help them translate their passion into fulfilling careers.
Zach Grauman, VP of Finance
Zach Grauman is a first-year MBA candidate at Cornell University’s SC Johnson College of Business. He is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University (University Park) with a B.S. in Finance, and is credentialed as a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) through the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts. He spent nine years as a management consultant to the healthcare industry, advising U.S. health system clients on strategic growth initiatives and financial transactions. He specialized in hospital M&A support and fair market value physician compensation. At Johnson, he has been elected to serve as Vice President of Finance to both the Healthcare Club and the Old Ezra Finance Club.
Nikita Kumar, VP AMBA
Nikita is an MBA candidate at Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University graduating in 2019. Before starting her MBA, she worked in the Pharmaceutical industry for 6 years at large corporations such as Glaxo-SmithKline, Amgen and Johnson & Johnson (J&J). She has worked closely with the Commercial Sales & Marketing teams to derive data-driven insights and improve the effectiveness of prescriber targeting and channel promotions. Through her prior engagement in initiatives such as post-merger integration of Commercial Sales operations and optimization of sales data subscription costs for a mature product, she has a good functional understanding of the organization and responsibilities of various business functions within the Commercial Sales and Marketing division of large pharmaceutical organizations. She closely follows the evolving healthcare landscape and has monitored industry trends such as Immunotherapy.
Nikita also has experience in the non-profit sector, as a Teach For India Fellow, and was instrumental in leading educational and community development programs in Delhi, India and Manchester, U.K. She is passionate about the healthcare industry and is excited at the opportunity to work with the rest of the board to engage fellow AMBAs in meaningful club activities. She plans to act as an ambassador to foster effective communications amongst faculty, students, and industry professionals.
Donovan White, VP Cornell Tech
Donovan is an MD/MBA in the Class of 2019 at the Johnson Graduate School of Management and in the Class of 2020 in the Weill Cornell Medical College. Donovan graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor degree in Biomedical Engineering from The University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2015. During his time there he started his institution’s chapter of Global Medical Brigades, an international organization that provides medical aid to various countries ,while performing research related to colocalization of microglia with oligodendrocytes. After undergrad he matriculated into medical school at Weill Cornell where he completed three years of the program before beginning the MBA program. While in medical school he was president of the college’s Student National Medical Association and was awarded the Lee Family Scholarship.
After his year in the MBA program, Donovan plans to return to medical school to complete his fourth year while applying to general surgery residency with future plans to pursue plastic surgery.
Renee Zacharowicz, VP Cornell Tech
Renee Zacharowicz is a Health Tech 19 MS candidate who graduated summa cum laude from Yeshiva University’s honors program with a BA in biology and computer science concentration. She is interested in applying machine learning techniques to neuroscience research and neurodegenerative disease-detection, hoping to spend the year after graduation doing research in this interdisciplinary space while exploring PhD programs. Like most born and bred NY-ers, Renee has only recently been made aware that the supportive land mass of the 59th street bridge is both habitable and inhabited. She has since fallen in love with Roosevelt Island and would not trade living here for anywhere in the world. Above all, Renee is a podcast junkie who loves politics, yoga, climbing, and all things chocolate.
